Specializing in stock items and custom commissions crafted from native Southern Appalachian hardwoods.
I am the third generation of woodworkers in my famly. I retired from a career in heavy construction in 1998, moved to East Tennessee in 1999 and started back into woodworking to share my passion and skills with the public.
I use only native, air-dried Southern Appalachian hardwoods purchased from local sawmills for my work. I've traveled many miles in Claiborne, Hancock and Hawkins counties in Tennessee, and in Scott and Lee counties in Southwest Virginia, locating air-dried hardwoods to use in my projects. At the present time I have these types of wood on hand: White Oak, Red Oak, Hard Maple, Quarter Sawn Sycamore, American Walnut, White Ash and American Chestnut. The American Chestnut was sawn in 1956 and has never been used. I also have aromatic Eastern Cedar.
My offerings include fine furniture, utensils, toys, racks, stands, clocks, birdhouses, turkey calls, waterwheels and more....
